Invitation: Day with the Košice Region Film Office
The Košice Region Film Office invites you to a special event within the Filmmaking Evenings project, which will also be part of the accompanying programme of the Art Film Fest Košice International Film Festival. The event Day with the Košice Region Film Office, will offer a unique opportunity to explore regional filmmaking and meet local filmmakers.
This special edition of Filming Evenings will feature an extended programme, including a discussion with Košice-based directors Katarína Gramatová and Martin Gonda, as well as screenings of their acclaimed debut films The Sky Above, the Mud Below and The Flood.

2:15 PM – 4:00 PM | Screening: The Flood (Potopa) (102 min.)
The feature debut of Košice-based director Martin Gonda is also the first fiction film ever made in the Rusyn language. Set in the 1980s, the story follows the relationship between a father and his daughter against the backdrop of the displacement of local communities due to the construction of the Starina water reservoir. The film received six Sun in a Net Awards, including Best Screenplay, Best Sound, Best Production Design, Best Actress in a Leading Role, Best Actor in a Supporting Role, and the Audience Award.

4:20 PM – 6:00 PM | Screening: Promise, I‘ll Be a Fine (Hore je nebo, v doline som ja) (93 min.)
The debut feature by Košice-based director Katarína Gramatová tells the dramatic coming-of-age story of Enrique, a teenage boy growing up in a so-called “hungry village.” During one transformative summer, he is forced to confront the collapse of his idealized image of his mother. The film portrays everyday struggles, family relationships, and the search for personal identity. Katarína Gramatová received the Czech Lion Award for her direction.

A discussion focused on the successful debut films of emerging Košice filmmakers, their experiences producing film projects in the Košice Region, the importance of regional support, and their collaboration with the Košice Region Film Office.
