FROM JUNE 1, 2025, THE KOŠICE REGION INCREASES THE CASH REBATES TO 5% AND 10%
REBATE ON ELIGIBLE COSTS
A cash rebate of 5% or 10% on eligible costs for film or TV production in the territory of the Košice Region.
- 5% – at least 2 shooting days in the territory of the Košice Region
- 10% – at least 2 shooting days in the territory of the Košice Region and 10% of the storyline of the audiovisual work takes place in the Košice Region
Eligible expenditures:
Actual costs incurred and paid directly in connection with the implementation of the project, including authors’ fees, who are taxpayers in Slovakia and have their registered office or residence address in the Košice Region.
Minimum amount of eligible expenditures paid in connection with the creation of a film project:
- €100,000 for standalone feature films and for multi-part documentary audiovisual works
- €50,000 for standalone documentary works and for any animated works
- €200,000 for multi-part feature works (TV series or for new platforms)
CASH REBATES CAN BE COMBINED WITH AVF, ALLOWING SUPPORT OF UP TO 43%
SIMPLE PROCESS
The eligibility period for expenditures begins after registration:
- Register the project.
- After project registration, the producer receives a registration certificate. The eligibility period for expenditures (two years) begins after the certificate is issued.
- The film project must meet the criteria of the cultural test.
- The right to receive the rebate on eligible expenditures arises after the applicant has paid all required expenditures and submitted the project accounting.

PROJECT REGISTRATION
The Film Office registers a film project based on an application. After completing the film project registration application, the applicant submits an electronic version by email to jan.melikant@vucke.sk and a printed version signed by the applicant’s statutory body to the Košice Region Film Office at:

An integral part of the film project registration application includes:
- a cultural test,
- the concept of the film project,
- estimated total budget and the estimated amount of eligible expenditures (part of the application),
- the production schedule of the film project.
