Promise, I’ll Be Fine
Promise, I’ll Be Fine is the feature-length debut of two young filmmakers from Košice – producer Igor Engler and director Katarína Gramatová. The film, inspired by real events from Slovakia’s so-called “hunger valleys,” seeks to show how growing up in a harsh, neglected environment shapes a young person’s character and decisions. It was filmed in the village of Utekáč, the real home of the boys – non-actors – whom the director cast in the leading roles.
Car Gangs
Car Gangs is a Slovak documentary film by Košice-born director Dominik Bari, combining elements of true crime and investigative reporting. It reveals the background of a criminal group of car thieves, presenting the thefts through the eyes of the thieves themselves, their victims, as well as police investigators. The Košice Region was key for the production, and most scenes take place there.
The Professional Parent
Professional Parent was created through a collaboration between Slovak and Romanian filmmakers, with ambitions to present Slovak cinema abroad. The short film by Košice-born director Erik Jasaň addresses a sensitive topic. It aims to highlight the moral boundaries of people who cross ethical norms for profit.
Kavej
The film Kavej humorously tells the story of how we sometimes complicate our own lives and fail to notice what truly matters.
