The comedy Kavej was one of the most-watched films in Slovak cinemas in 2024. During its first month, it was seen by more than 200,000 viewers. Around 5,000 people attended a special premiere on 17 July 2024 at the Košice amphitheatre.

The cast features many actors originating from eastern Slovakia. The story takes place mainly in Prešov and Kysak (Košice–okolie district), but in the summer of 2023, the filmmakers also shot in Fintice, Petrovany, and Košice.

Director Lukáš Zednikovič presents an original take on friendship, romantic relationships, and important life choices. Good friends Veronika (Jana Kovalčíková) and Klára (Anna Jakab Rakovská), who live in the capital, return after a long time to their hometown environment in eastern Slovakia to attend several family events — three weddings and one funeral. What was meant to be a relaxing visit turns into a series of unexpected moments. These bring old secrets to the surface, test their bond, and force them to reflect on where they want their lives to go next. The film features situational humor, witty dialogues, and the Šariš dialect.
